Funding & Community Support

Mind Circuit™ is a North Carolina-based company developing practical, regulation-first tools designed to help students return to participation and instruction after moments of stress, distraction, or dysregulation.

Our work has been supported by public innovation funding, local schools, and community organizations. We are grateful to the organizations that have invested in both the development of Mind Circuit and the community-based mental health work that preceded it.

Supporting the Development of Mind Circuit™

One North Carolina Small Business Program

Mind Circuit, Inc. was selected for funding through the One North Carolina Small Business Program.

Mind Circuit™: A Classroom-Based System to Improve Instructional Continuity Through Rapid Reset Routines

Our focus is straightforward: give educators a brief, low-burden way to help students reset and return to instruction, and measure what happens next.

A.C. Reynolds PTA

We are grateful for support from the A.C. Reynolds PTA.

Local school and parent organizations have played an important role in helping us translate ideas into practical resources grounded in the realities students, educators, and families experience every day.

That community investment has helped us continue developing tools intended to be simple enough for real classrooms while creating opportunities to learn directly from the people who use them.

Origins

Where This Work Started

Helene Therapy Network

Free Mental Health Support Following Hurricane Helene | 2024–2025

Mind Circuit's commitment to practical, accessible support is also connected to our experience responding to Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. Following the hurricane, we established Helene Therapy Network, a nonprofit arm created to help people in Western North Carolina access mental health care during recovery. Through Helene Therapy Network, participating licensed mental health professionals provided free therapy sessions to individuals impacted by Hurricane Helene. The goal was simple: when people were already dealing with displacement, loss, financial strain, and disruption, the cost of therapy should not become another barrier to receiving support.

Helene Therapy Network operated through the end of 2025. Providing free therapy required ongoing funding to compensate clinicians and operate the program responsibly. When sufficient continuing funding was no longer available, we made the decision to close the nonprofit initiative rather than operate a model that could not be sustainably maintained. Although Helene Therapy Network is no longer active, the work influenced what came next.

It reinforced something we had already seen repeatedly in therapy, schools, and everyday life: people often need practical support before they are able to think clearly, problem-solve, learn, or reconnect. That experience continues to inform the philosophy behind Mind Circuit: Regulation first. Then thinking.

Community-Funded Care

Helene Therapy Network was supported through community grant funding, including support from:

United Way

Grant funding from United Way helped us make therapy available to community members without requiring them to pay for those sessions themselves.

A.C. Reynolds PTA

We also received support from the A.C. Reynolds PTA, reflecting the important role local schools, families, and community organizations played in Western North Carolina's recovery.

Philosophy

From Community Response to Prevention

Helene Therapy Network and Mind Circuit serve different purposes.

Helene Therapy Network provided free clinical mental health services to Western North Carolinians following a natural disaster.

Mind Circuit™ is a for-profit education and regulation-support company developing non-clinical tools for schools, families, and individuals.

The connection between them is not that they provide the same service. It is the belief that support should be practical, accessible, and usable when people actually need it. Today, Mind Circuit is applying that principle to a different problem: helping schools respond to everyday moments of dysregulation and interruption with brief, standardized routines that support a return to participation and instruction.
